Winemaker Wednesday at yollys

Winemaker Wednesday is a unique event that connects wine lovers and wine makers in the heart of the Franschhoek valley. Hosted at yollys the event provides a chance to understand the story and origins of some of South Africa's most coveted wines and most celebrated wine makers. The intimate setting allows for conversation and connection in celebration of the best wines our country has to offer.


Every Winemaker Wednesday is different with a new winemaker lighting up the floor at yollys bring their own flair to the event. The winemaker for the week will bring a selection of their wines from their newest blends, exclusive bottles and farm staples for tastings. The winemaker often also provides the opportunity to buy bottles directly from them. And don’t worry food is never an issue as the belt will be spinning throughout the event providing the very best flavour delights that yollys has to offer.


Evert from Last Arrow Wines joined us for the first iteration of the event showcasing his unique 100% Marsanne. Then it was the turn of the Australian Mick Craven from Craven Wines who brought along his full collection of white wines. Alexandra McFarlane from McFarlane Wines was the first female winemaker to join yollys on Winemaker Wednesday who presented her Monday’s Child and Capitoline Wolf labels. Next Rudi Schultz, from Thelema, showcased his personal passion project Schultz Family Wines with bottles named after some of South Africa’s most iconic surf spots.Sam Hatfield who runs The Earth Beneath Our Feet hosted a packed out evening giving a view into how his project operated and his four signature wines. Most recently Gerhard Bruwer the owner of Renosterveld Wines in Hermanus gave us a taste of his Isabella Elizabeth Chardonnay and Gerhard Jon Syrah/Cabernet.
